Update

We have had a lovely first week back in school! This afternoon we watched Sutton Park's Got Talent Show. We really enjoyed watching all the different acts from across the school.

In Literacy, we have worked hard writing our version of the story 'Snail and the Whale'. The children have written some amazing stories. As the transition to Year 2 approaches, it is very important children are writing in sentences with a capital letter, finger spaces and full stops. The children have worked hard all year, we want them to now apply all the things they have learnt and showcase the skills they have.

In Maths, the children have started to look at division. We started by looking at doubles, understanding doubling and halving helps children have a better understanding when dividing. We used practical objects to make doubles and then halves.

Homework:
We would like the children to practice doubling and halving this weekend.
The children can represent their answers however they choose.

We have sent home slips today regarding costumes for the play we will be doing soon. Please feel free to be as creative as you like. If there are any problems regarding costumes please let us know.

The children have worked very hard this week. In Maths we have measured  and compared mass by using balance scales. We also learned the difference between volume and capacity. We had fun measuring and comparing using water. In Literacy we have created story maps for the Man on the Moon and looked the time connectives in the story to help us remember the order of events. We will start to retell the story next week. We have seen a huge improvement in children bringing to school book bags, books and reading logs. Thank you for your support in this. PE is on a Friday afternoon and whilst the rugby coach is in, our session finishes at 2:50. This means the children need to get changed as quickly as possible ready for home time. Rugby Skills

For the rest of the term we are going to be taught some rugby skills by a coach  from Hull FC on a Friday. We were super excited to meet James who taught us how to hold a rugby ball correctly.  We played some fun games to practice the skills we had been taught.
